Panchakarma

Panchakarma  is a branch of “Ayurveda” which deals with restoration of youth with help of medicated oils. The practices of panchakarma are extremely gentle, effective and nurturing. Panchakarma helps to support detoxification and rejuvenation of our bodies and minds.This special treatment of oil massages prescribed in the ancient Indian medical text have been practiced in Kerala for many centuries, practiced in accordance with great works of “CharakaSamhita”. Ayurveda prescribes Panchakarma Therapy for the cleansing of body toxins.

Purvakarma: Pre-purification Measures – Before the actual operation of purification begins, there is a need to prepare the body in prescribed methods to encourage the body to let go of the toxins. The methods used in this are Abhyangam, Shirodhara and Elakizhi. Oil is applied to the entire body with a particular type of massage which helps the toxins to move towards the gastro-intestinal tract. Oil massage also makes the superficial and deep tissues soft and supple.
Panchakarma means five types of therapeutic measures and includes:
Vaman: therapeutic vomiting or Emesis Therapy.
Vamana is a medicinal emesis therapy for removing the Kapha toxins collected in the body and the respiratory tract. This is given to people with high Kapha imbalance. Daily treatment involves loosening and mobilizing the toxins in an effort to finally eliminate them.Vamana is highly beneficial in ailments like Bronchial Asthma, Chronic Allergies, Vitiligo, Psoriasis, Hyperacidity, Chronic Indigestion Nasal Congestion, Edema, Obesity, Psychological disorders, Skin disorders.
Virechan : purgation
Virechana is medicated purgation therapy which eliminates Pitta toxins from the body that are amassed in the liver and gallbladder. It totally cleanses the gastro-intestinal tract. It is a safe procedure without any side effects. Virechana is very beneficial for everyone and especially helps those who are suffering with Diabetes, Asthma, Skin disorders such as Herpes, Paraplegia, Digestive disorders, Constipation, Hyperacidity, Headaches, Elephantiasis and Gynaecological disorders.
Vasti: enema
Vasti cleanses the accumulated toxins from all the doshas : Vata, Pitta and Kapha, through the colon. Basti is also highly beneficial as a rejuvenating treatment. Medicated oil or ghee and an herbal decoction is given as enema to clean the colon and increase the muscle tone. This treatment is provided based on the medical condition of a person.

Nasya: elimination of toxins through the nose
Nasya involves administration of medicated oil through the nose to cleanse accumulated Kaphatoxins from the head and neck region. Nasya benefits include improvement in memory and eye sight, insomnia, elimination of excess mucus, lessening of hyper pigmentation in the face, pre-mature greying of hair, clarity of voice, headaches, migraine, stiffness of the neck, nasal allergies, nasal polyp, neurological dysfunctions, and sinusitis.
Rakta moksha: detoxification of the blood
Raktamoksha is a procedure to cleanse the blood in the ayurvedic way and is advised only in extremely rare conditions.During this whole procedure of panchakarma very special diet needs to be followed and that is monitored minutely by our doctors and dieticians. After this therapy that lasts for a minimum of 21 days and a maximum of 29 days you shall surely feel completely revitalised and 10 years younger. It has been scientifically proven that natural purification treatments can successfully eliminate environmentally toxic substances such as polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB’s) and pesticides from our body, without damaging it or causing side effects.
